Description

Tacoma Power is looking to hire a Safety Intern to join our Environmental Health &  Safety (EHS)  team!  This position is open to current college students and recent graduates and offers hands-on experience.  This paid internship is an entry-level position.
 
This is not a normal internship!  You will be a crucial member of a small team with important responsibilities and deliverables of your own.  You will leave our internship program with new knowledge,  skills,  and experience.  In this role you will apply your skills &  gain valuable experience working with TPU Safety Staff to support Tacoma Power Safety Initiatives,  programs and events such as the Safety Recognition lunches.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include

  • Build on existing skills,  particularly in areas related to safety programs,  event management,  and potentially other safety initiatives
  • Supporting safety initiatives;  this includes assisting with safety programs and related tasks to improve or ensure the safety of the workplace or operations
  • Work directly with Tacoma Power’s Safety Staff,  which means you’ll be contributing to an organization’s established safety policies and protocols
  • Involvement with Safety Recognition lunches,  which are events aimed at acknowledging safety achievements,  reinforcing safe practices,  or fostering a safety culture.  The intern could help with organizing,  coordinating,  or supporting these events


This position is temporary up to 40 hours per week.  The term of this position is expected to coincide with the typical summer break for college students.

Qualifications

Minimum Education*
High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Experience*
1 year of post-high school training

*Equivalency:  1 year of experience =  1 year of education
