Description

Support our Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC)  on community engagement efforts around two main projects:  City of Vancouver Comprehensive Planning Community Engagement and Education and the Women’s Health Equity Study.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow CEC to meetings with City and County officials to learn about their proposed rules and regulations and attend select workshops about comp plan topics.
  • Attend (some)  city planning meetings and public hearings with CEC.
  • Assist at community engagement events for both projects.
  • Assist in analyzing and summarizing data from these events.
  • Assist in developing and administering community surveys and analyzing survey data for the comp plan process.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in college or have completed a degree (minimum AA if not currently in school)
  • Background in Sociology,  Psychology,  Women’s Studies,  Human Development,  Political Science,  or a related field
  • Strong interest in advocacy and community organizing focused on women’s health equity and equitable land use policies
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills;  comfortable engaging with community members one-on-one or in public settings
  • Able to communicate consistently via email
  • Reliable transportation to work on-site in downtown Vancouver
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Available for occasional weeknight city/county meetings or community events
  • Social science research experience is a plus,  but not required
