Who we are:  Formed in 1904,  the Association of Washington Business is Washington’s (AWB)  oldest and largest statewide business association and includes nearly 6,000 members. 

AWB serves as both the state’s chamber of commerce and the manufacturing and technology association.  AWB also has a longstanding record of working on behalf of companies in many other industries such as retail,  wholesale,  communications,  services,  agriculture,  transportation,  hospitality,  and construction. 

AWB hosts several events throughout the year.  Some of our major events include Legislative Day &  Hill Climb,  Spring Meeting,  Policy Summit,  Manufacturing Tour Bus,  and Evening of Excellence. 

Position Purpose 

AWB seeks a dynamic,  results-oriented program intern for the Events &  Member Experience department.  The optimum candidate possesses interest and experience in the coordination administration of programs and events.  AWB’s events span a large array of areas including conferences,  webinars,  trade missions,  and continuing education.  

Responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate and work successfully with members,  the public,  and other departments at AWB. 
  • Ability to work with other team members to achieve challenging team objectives and goals,  as well an individual objectives and goals. 
  • Excellent organizational skills,  ability to work under deadlines,  dedication to quality,  and ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Demonstrates commitment to completion of projects on a timely basis with accuracy. 
  • Ability to travel to support day of event programming. 

Job Description: 

  • Support the AWB events team in planning and executing AWB special events,  seminars,  webinars,  AWB’s Awards Program and other programs 
  • Develop and implement social media programming for AWB events 
  • Develop and proof content for weekly events email campaign 
  • Brainstorm creative ideas and event themes to create an immersive experience 
  • Support leadership in developing event meeting agendas,  record meeting minutes and other administrative needs 
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new programs,  applications and technology,  e.g.,  Asana,  Adobe Suite,  MailChimp,  Atlas,  Microsoft OneDrive,  etc. 
  • Database management 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds 
  • As well as any other duties assigned by supervisor 

Qualifications

The candidate should have at least 2 years  of experience in a professional environment with an interest  in hospitality,  advocacy,  public relations  and/or marketing.
