Description

There is an agricultural technician position available starting in mid-March 2024 and continuing through September.  The Agricultural Technician will be part of a diverse team responsible for implementing the research directives and goals of Agriculture Development Group,  Inc.  (ADG)  located in Eltopia,  WA (30 minutes from WSU).

Work time before summer break is negotiable.

Responsibilities

-   Operate farm machinery,  including tractors,  rotovators,  mowers,  sprayers,  and trucks.

-   Application and calibration of agricultural chemicals to field crops.  Maintaining accurate records of pesticide applications,  and ensure proper pesticide disposal in compliance with EPA and WSDA regulations.

-  Coordinate applications with researchers and farm manager.

Qualifications

-    At least 16 years of age

-    Can drive the tracor

-    Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with researchers,  farm personnel,  private landowners and the public.

-     Ability to follow directions and work independently without direct supervision.

-     Knowledge of basic mathematics,  including but not limited to:  ability to perform mathematical calculations for pesticide rates,  volumes,  measures,  and acreages.

-    Ability to work long and irregular hours occasionally while maintaining enthusiasm and positive attitude.

 -    Valid driver’s license (must pass driving record check)  and the ability to operate 4x4 vehicles in off-road wet,  muddy conditions

-     Physically fit and lift 50 lbs or more
